WhatsApp hack: phone numbers of hundreds of thousands of Hungarians for sale
Somebody would like to sell the phone number of almost 500 million WhatsApp users on a hacker forum. Among the numbers, there are at least 377 thousand belonging to Hungarians.
That is not the first time social media sites have been hacked. In 2021 spring, Facebook and LinkedIn were hacked, and the data of hundreds of millions of users were stolen and sold on the dark net.
According to Cybernews, 337,045 Hungarian phone numbers are among the 486 million somebody has been trying to sell since 16 November. WhatsApp has more than 2 billion users monthly, so every fourth of them is concerned. The seller shared a sample of the data with Cybernews which confirmed that they belong to active users, portfolio.hu wrote.
HERE you can check out whether your account is concerned or not.
