Will Hungary veto the EU’s big plans regarding Ukraine?

The EU is facing a major roadblock in its efforts to support Ukraine, as Hungary is expected to veto a crucial EUR 20 billion aid package. With divisions deepening among member states, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is set to unveil new defence spending plans, while seeking alternative ways to back Ukraine. As the 6 March summit approaches, the EU must navigate growing resistance and find creative solutions to maintain its support for Kyiv.
Hungary is expected to veto
According to Politico, the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, is set to unveil her plan for increased EU defence spending, though uncertainty looms over a proposed aid package for Ukraine. Hungary is expected to veto the EUR 20 billion package, originally put forward by High Representative Kaja Kallas and several member states. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has urged European Council President António Costa not to include divisive issues on the 6 March summit agenda, citing concerns over escalating the war. As a result, references to further military aid have been removed from the latest EU Council draft agenda.

Portfolio notes that despite efforts to secure consensus, Costa has admitted defeat in persuading Orbán to support the aid package. Slovakia’s Robert Fico has also voiced opposition, while other EU capitals, including Paris, appear open to reconsidering the proposal. Meanwhile, Von der Leyen is expected to propose alternative ways for European Union members to assist Ukraine. The bloc has already committed EUR 60 billion in military aid by 2025, a pledge that remains intact. Additionally, France has suggested using seized Russian assets to enforce a potential ceasefire, and discussions around security guarantees have been reinforced in the latest negotiations.

Question’s like this are likened to asking – is the Hungarian Cardinal – Peter Erdo, a “supporter” of Victor Orban, and his Fidesz Government and a Baptised Catholic ???
We KNOW the answer to the Cardinals position is – YES.
History never Lies.
Truth is TRUTH.
Orban and his Fidesz Government, over there HEADS in relationship, in Partnerships with Putin’s Russia, will certainly again – “true to form” veto European Union plans in regards to the Ukraine.
The London conference which consisted of larger NATO members without Hungary and the US is an indication of what is coming. Note that the Turkish foreign minister attended. There can be no further obstacle to concrete and immediate action and for that reason what will take place is action through a “coalition of the willing” which will operate outside of official NATO and EU decision making processes that have been sabotaged by Orban. Hungary is out.
@larry good point re Mr. Erdogan – a Fidesz BFF until he was not. Whatever you think of him – he is a highly skilled politician, and he has his eyes set on the prize (our Politicians will appreciate his personal focus on 5 more years. Or 10. And Turkey First, the Black Sea, eradication of the PKK challenge, religion – some of this interrelated).
Our Politicians are not particularly helped by “Teflon” Mr. Rutte being NATO Secretary General, either.
Maybe there is a God?
Larry – Concur.
The PRESSURIZATION rightly on Orban right at this point in time, the events, his “mouth” again, exhibiting his “Judas” character to DEMOCRACY, post the Trump/Vance “Dog Yard” attack on the Ukrain President, his relentless aggressive attacks with his Foreign Minister – Peter Szijjarto – “if it had a brain it would be lonely” there LIES of the European Union, it’s position role of importance it PLAY’s – and NEED’s to play at this “un-certain time in Europe, and with the global country’s of DEMOCRACY, what is COMING – that will be HEAPED rightfully on Orban, will bring CELEBRATION globally from those of support to DEMOCRACY individually and country’s Globally of DEMOCRACY.
Hungary – again will SUFFER on – worsen in its functionality, it’s already BUTCHERED economy, with a Government that is on the “Cusp” of Bankruptcy, a Government led by Orban and his Fidesz Government.
Hungarians – from “all stations in life” hardening there increasing there COMMUNICATION with each other, growing in there SOLIDARITY in millions, accepting that if they the citizens of Hungary don’t increase there DISPLEASURE of Orban – his Fidesz Government, the cataclysmic capitulation of our economy – of our country, the FUTURE of Hungary increases in it’s VULNURABILITY that could end in us, becoming a country being referred to as on “hold” of being PERILOUS.
Solidarity – Facts and Truth and that Truth is Truth – the “Creed” needed of the people of Hungary, to bring about the Inglorious DOWNFALL – of the Victor Mihaly. Orban led Fidesz Government of Hungary.
I am SO done with Ukraine.
Enough.
If Ukraine is really the reason for the skyrocketing prices of some food, unavailability of other, lack of affordability of energy, and much more all over Europe, then SURELY it is in our best interest to end that conflict immediately, whatever the outcome.
Yet, the EUrogarbage has been doing the exact opposite: Insisting on defending Ukraine’s borders, all the while letting millions of far worse invaders than Russian soldiers ever could be suffocate most of Europe, especially the western half.
Give me a break.
