22,000 troops mobilise: Hungary launches massive NATO war games

Some 22,000 soldiers, including professional staff and reservists, will participate in the NATO military exercise dubbed Adaptive Hussars 2025 in the next six weeks, the defence minister said on Friday.
Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said on Facebook that Adaptive Hussars 2025 was an exercise planned over several years based on a fictitious scenario.

He added that it was carried under under the arrangements of NATO, with support from NATO partner countries, and with the participation of soldiers from Slovakia and the US.
The military exercise is based on the premise of Hungary being subjected to an armed attack and tests how this would be thwarted within the country borders, he said.
He added that “in order for the Hungarian army to successfully carry out its operations, several elements and administrative units of the Hungarian government were also necessary”.
