Beekeepers to launch campaign promoting honey
Budapest, October 15 (MTI) – The association of Hungarian beekeepers (OMME) will launch a three-month campaign starting in November to promote the domestic consumption of locally-made honey, daily Magyar HÃrlap said on Saturday.
Hungary is one of the major honey producers in the European Union, but honey, a premium product listed as a “Hungaricum,” has been rather poorly promoted overall, the chief of OMME told the paper.
The campaing will encourage customers to buy honey directly from domestic producers who will sell their product in uniform pacaking with an OMME seal serving as a certificate of quality and origin, Péter Bross said.
Higher consumption may also contribute to improving the health of Hungarians, he said.
