Do you know what ratatouille is? Have you ever tried the Hungarian ‘lecsó’? If not, Tamás’s recipe is the perfect way to do it, and if you have already tasted it, we know that you want more and are already preparing it.
Inspired by the Badacsony wine region, Tamás uses a rather odd and unusual ingredient in the following recipe. You will need fresh grape leaves in order to prepare this dish, but by the looks of it, it is certainly worth the hassle to obtain such an ingredient. However, if you cannot get your hands on grape leaves, there is another similar Hungarian recipe that you can try, the stuffed cabbage.
Do you like fish and chips? Do you like Hungarian dishes and spices? Then this recipe is the perfect match for you. The marriage between the staple fish and chips and Hungarian ingredients creates a unique dish that will make you want to visit Hungary just to have a taste of this delicious catfish and chips.
For this recipe, you will need your tastiest red wine and a special meat ingredient. The Mangalica is a special Hungarian pig breed with a thick woolly fur that resembles a sheep’s, but its flavour is bold, and it is one of the fattiest pig breeds there is, which means that it can better absorb the aroma of spices.
The following dish will take you to the deep Hungarian forests thanks to its flavour profile and ingredients. You are going to need some type of venison filet which can be any type of game, but in this recipe, the cook uses deer filet, but you can alter the recipe for whatever game meat you prefer.
Inspired by the famous sphere-shaped ‘Gömbkilátó’ (Globe Lookout) in Balatonboglár, the next dish you can try at home is a beloved dessert of many Hungarians. Every age group in Hungary loves this delicious dessert, and almost every family has its own methods to make it unique, but this recipe will surely make you want to lick all your fingers.
