Bestselling Chinese author to visit Budapest

Bestselling Chinese novelist Su Tong is paying a visit to Budapest this week at the invitation of the China Cultural Centre in Budapest and the Contemporary Chinese Book Club, the club told MTI on Monday.
Readers will get the chance to attend a meet-and-greet with Su at the China Cultural Centre on Friday, the book club said.
On Monday, he will be a guest of honour at a roundtable discussion with sinologists and film professionals at the Urania National Film Theatre as part of its Chinese film week. The event will also feature a screening of the 1995 film Blush, an adaptation of Su’s 1991 novella Petulia’s Rouge Tin.

Su was born in 1963 in Suzhou. He published his first works in 1983, before rising to national fame with his novels in 1987. He has since become a worldwide bestselling author and one of China’s most translated contemporary novelists.
His 2009 novel The Boat to Redemption earned him the Man Asian Literary Prize, and in 2011 he was nominated for the Man Booker International Prize.
