“Please be informed that due to a global technical problem, check-in has been significantly slowed down in Budapest, similar to other airports,” Budapest Airport announced on their official Facebook page a couple of minutes earlier.
The problem affects the following airlines, they said:
- Air France
- British Airways
- KLM Dutch Airlines
- LOT Polish Airlines
Thank you for your patience, we will keep you informed about the expected restart of the system, Budapest Airport concluded the post.
Portfolio.hu wrote that several European airports struggled with similar problems. Among others, France, Germany and even the United Kingdom are concerned. The results are significant delays and flight cancellations. The reasons are the labour shortage, the increasing passenger traffic, and the new wave of the coronavirus, portfolio.hu summed up.
UPDATE (6.18 pm)
The check-in problem has been resolved, minor slowdowns may still occur until the system is fully restored, Budapest Airport said on Facebook.
