Budapest is to sign a cooperation and friendship agreement with Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria, the Municipal Assembly decided on Wednesday.
The assembly, in an almost unanimous vote of approval, gave the go-ahead to Mayor István Tarlós to sign the related document.
The assembly noted in a statement that Tarlós had received his Sofia counterpart in April and
the two officials agreed that the two cities should intensify ties and nurture traditional historical and friendship between the two nations.
The pact covers economic ties, cultural, educational and tourist relations as well as exchanging know-how in the areas of transport and infrastructure and the operation of thermal baths. Further, the cities will take part in Hungary-Bulgaria friendship celebrations.
