Should you board at the front, in the middle or towards the end of the train? The Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) has added a new feature to BudapestGO that will now help passengers make this choice.
When planning a metro journey, the app shows passengers exactly which carriage they should board to reach the exit at their destination as quickly as possible, or to make a simpler transfer to another metro line. The new feature will be rolled out gradually and will be available to all users within a few days.
BudapestGO gains another useful feature
BKK is continuously developing BudapestGO to ensure that the app can provide assistance with more and more aspects of everyday travel. One of the key new features in the update released on 29 September – which will become available to all users within a few days – is that, when planning a journey, the app now also shows passengers which part of the metro train they should board.
The new feature can be particularly useful on journeys where passengers have little time to make a connection or are less familiar with the metro station concerned. At the same time, it can also help regular passengers travelling along the same route to reach their exit more directly, avoiding a few unnecessary minutes or detours.

The new feature also plans step-free routes without any additional settings
The new feature works automatically, without requiring any additional settings. If a route recommended by BudapestGO includes a metro journey, the app indicates which carriage passengers should board to reach their destination exit more quickly or make a faster transfer between metro lines.
The app also takes accessibility into account when planning a journey. In such cases, it recommends the carriage closest to the exit with a lift and will only plan routes that are accessible without steps.

BudapestGO continues to evolve
The latest update is another milestone in the continuous development of BudapestGO. When planning new features, BKK takes customers’ needs and feedback into account, and requests for recommendations on which metro carriage to board have been raised in feedback from several customers.
The aim is for BudapestGO to provide travellers with an increasing amount of information to help them choose the most suitable route, making public transport faster, more predictable and more convenient as a result.
