Chief medical officer: Increased migration presents epidemic risk in Hungary
Budapest, September 16 (MTI) – So far there have been no reports of disease among migrants posing a danger to public health, the chief medical officer said, warning however that risk of an epidemic would increase as the number of migrants mounted.
Judit Paller told public news channel M1 on Wednesday that the areas used by migrants are not generally equipped with proper infrastructure, and when such areas are used for everyday living contagions can easily develop.
She added, however, that the sanitary conditions were sufficient at the reception centres and the authorities were keeping the risk of epidemic under control.
