City council approves Budapest-Moscow cooperation scheme
Budapest, October 26 (MTI) – Budapest City Council approved on Wednesday a proposal to launch cooperation between Budapest and Moscow.
Budapest Mayor István Tarlós visited Moscow at the invitation of counterpart Sergey Sobyanin in December 2014 and proposed rekindling cooperation. Sobyanin supported the plan “in view of the excellently developing Hungarian-Russian relations,” the proposal said.
The programme for 2016-2019 is expected to be signed in late October and will cover information exchanges in construction and city planning, infrastructure development, and the development of business and trade links between Hungarian and Russian companies.
Culture and youth policy will represent another part of the scheme, as well as cooperation in the areas of social benefits, education, sport and tourism.
