Coronavirus – Over 150 Hungarians in EU vs Virus innovation competition

Daily News Hungary

Hungary’s innovation and technology ministry and the Design Terminal are supporting the participation of over 150 Hungarian contestants in a creative online competition aimed at finding innovative solutions to tackling social challenges around the novel coronavirus epidemic, the ministry told MTI on Thursday.

The competition, dubbed EU vs Virus, held between April 24-26, is being organised by the European Commission and the European Innovation Council.

It is aimed at building links between innovators, investors, and social partners to come up with solutions in the areas of health, distance working and learning, as well as social and political cohesion, ensuring smooth electronic business operations and digital finance.

According to the ministry’s statement, over 12,000 participants have registered for the “pan-European hackathon” from the EU, the United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Israel, Turkey, and India.

Hungary held the domestic round of the competition April 3-5.
