Magyar Idők was informed that another international military field training exercise will take place in Hungary, in the central shooting range of the Hungarian Defence Force in the Hajmáskér and Öskü area.
Members of the Dutch army will arrive to Hungary in the middle of January, and the field training exercise is expected to end at the end of February. The soldiers are accompanied by military vehicles and helicopters, and, according to the report of the HDF Bakony Combat Training Centre, the Challenge 2016 training exercise is going to take place not only at the central shooting range, but also in Kőröshegy, Bakonykút, and Újdörögd as well. In spring 2014 almost 3000 soldiers have participated in an international field training exercise in the Várpalota area that was also led by the Netherlands.
The field training exercise that took place 2 years ago made the decade-old Dutch-Hungarian military bond even stronger within the NATO. Actually, it was not even the first time that soldiers from the two countries have worked together. Hungarian soldiers in Afghanistan took over the military camp in the Baglan territory from Dutch soldiers, and the Afghan-Hungarian Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) was formed in Puli Khumri in October 2006. During the Várpalota Challenge 2014 more than 500 military vehicles were transferred to Hungary. 16 American helicopters arrived from Germany. Most of the tankers were transported by train. The other equipment were delivered to Hungary either by plane, or by other vehicles.
According to Magyar Idők, the mayors and notaries of the aforementioned cities and villages have been informed about the military field training exercise, where members of the Hungarian Defence Force will serve as the hosts of the Challenge 2016, which is led by the Netherlands.
