EU Parliament “deplores” Hungarian minister over Belarus visit

European Union Foreign Affairs Ministry of Hungary Hungary parliament Russia

The European Parliament deplores Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó. The Hungarian foreign minister visited Belarus in February, which goes against the stance of the EU.

The European Parliament expressed disapproval regarding Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó’s visit to Belarus, telex.hu reports. The politician had a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik.

The European Parliament’s resolution condemned the visit. The EP “underlines the importance of strengthening EU unity concerning Belarus, including as regards the diplomatic isolation of the current regime”.

The EP continues to condemn “any actions, including high-ranking visits to the de facto authorities in Minsk which could cast doubt on the Union’s unequivocal non-recognition of the Lukashenka regime,” before surprisingly naming Szijjártó directly.

“In this context, (the EP) deplores the 13 February 2023 visit to Minsk by the Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, which contradicts the EU policy on Belarus and on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.”

Hungary unfazed

The resolution has no legal consequences and probably does not bother the Hungarian Foreign Ministry. As a matter of fact, Péter Szijjártó was already aware that the meeting would face backlash during his press conference.

“It is clear that after you report that I was here today discussing the importance of peace with my Belarusian colleague, I will be attacked by many people” – Péter Szijjártó is quoted by telex.hu

“My fellow politicians in the West, the international liberal media, will all say how unacceptable it is that I was here today and that I had talks with my Belarusian colleague. I want to say one thing in response. The Hungarian position has always been clear: the channels of communication must be kept open.”

Szijjártó said that he asked Belarusian Foreign Minister Aleinik to “do his utmost for peace and do his utmost against the prolongation and escalation of the war”.

The resolution again condemns Belarus’s involvement in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. The European Parliament argues that “Lukashenka and other Belarusian officials share responsibility” for war crimes committed in Ukraine. Therefore, they should be held accountable in a “special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine and other appropriate international courts”.

No remaining spaces are available, to ADD another Nail in the Coffin of Hungary.
This appalling visitation by the Foreign Minister of Hungary, is an addition, to the SMASHED to pieces REPUTATION of Hungary, its OBVIOUS path, to the return of rule under Communism.
Hungary – is in its deaths throes as a Member of the European Union.
If you BELIEF – its what is being put to us – driven by the PROPAGANDA machine of the Orban Government – that we Hungary – can STAND alone – its a PERILOUS thought process your mind is taking you on.

The NAIVETY in the comment posted by Bruce, just personifies, why Hungary is cascading into a deepening BLACK Hole.
Bruce – if you don’t wish us to be part of the European Union, the funding for Major projects BADLY needed by Hungary – who are going to be our Bankers- or line of Credit?
Russia – China is this the “Boat” you are on.
Hungary we are in a state of near Financial collapse.
This position must be IMPACTING on our Gold Reserves.
Orban and his Government have DUG an UGLY deepening picture for the FUTURE of Hungary – destroying our proud name, respect, relationships with numbers of “other” country’s.
Orban has ISOLATED us – that sees us DIVORCED of relationships, support – with just Russia & China – friends of Hungary.
Bruce – the billions of forints needed by Hungary, to up-grade develop – bring our infrastructure up into the 21st century, and “throw” into that the cataclysmic MESS that Education is in through no Orban investment, nor into Public Health Services such as Hospitals and “other” public medical facilities – who is GOING to FUND us?

The EU is childish. How can peace be accomplished without communication?

    I must reply to Naivety.

The EU parliament is worthless for a number of reasons but lets focus only on this particular case of the Hungarian Foreign Minister visiting and talking to his Belarus counterpart.

There is a serious conflict going on in Europe. There are almost 10 million people displaced from Ukraine. Over 200,000 Ukrainian young men have been killed in one year. Hundreds of thousands are seriously injured and will be affected for the rest of their lives. 16 year old boys are being forced into war with three weeks “military training” Over 50,000 children have disappeared mostly likely kidnapped. Energy costs have soared, food shortages are hitting every country in the world. The USA bombed the Nordstream pipeline.

Yet this ridiculous EU parliament says NOTHING about this. The EU parliament Does NOTHING to bring some sort of peace. The EU parliament Is not even calling for peace talks. But this same worthless parliament (when it is not obsessing with gender issues) finds the time to criticise anyone seeking talks,

If this conflict does not end soon then there will be no money for any EU projects.

And one final point. We were told that one of the benefits of being in the EU was to be part of a power bloc capable of rivalling USA, China and Russia. What we can now see is that Europe is pitifully weak, and not even at the table with the big boys!

Lines of credit – or simply be given oodles of money to develop.

Again, it is EU funds that have been boosting (if not outright funding) our GDP growth for a almost a generation – please check the facts:
