Pireus, Greece, migrant crisis

Brussels, May 24 (MTI) – Rather than considering the integration of migrants as a sole objective, the European Union should also focus on creating conditions under which “refugees and migrants” can return to their homelands, Szabolcs Takács, state secretary at the Hungarian prime minister’s office, said in Brussels.

After a meeting of EU ministers on Tuesday, Takács said repatriation should be administered in line with international law, but first the causes forcing people to leave their homes should be dealt with.

Takacs told MTI by phone that “you cannot integrate people unless they want to be integrated”. Cooperation between the two sides is a prerequisite, he added.
