Eurocontrol systems failure causes delays at Budapest airport
Budapest’s International Liszt Ferenc Airport is limiting departures to seven an hour due to a systems failure at the Eurocontrol centre in Brussels, Budapest Airport communications chief Mihály Hardy said on Tuesday.
The systems glitch also affects arriving flights, Hardy said in a statement. Passengers are advised to turn to the airlines for information about specific flights, he said.
Eurocontrol has said the systems fault could delay up to half of all European flights.
Eurocontrol coordinates air traffic for 41 member states.
For that matter, French carrier Air France cancelled all its Budapest-Paris flights on Tuesday because of a strike of its employees, information on the website of Liszt Ferenc International operator Budapest Airport shows.
According to the airport, Air France’s all four Wednesday flights should operate normally.
