Fidesz asks US Ambassador David Pressman to accept that Hungarians remain pro-peace, the ruling party’s communications director said in a video message on Friday.
Fidesz’ request from the US Ambassador
“Inflation caused by the sanctions, migration, child protection — these are real problems that affect that lives of Hungarians, but according to US Ambassador David Pressman, these are only fake problems,” MTI reported István Hollik as saying. “He says that we should focus on the war in Ukraine instead.”
This is the position of the American left, which Fidesz refutes, Hollik said.
“Instead of the war, we want to continue focusing on peace … our position remains unchanged: no migration, no gender, no war,” he said.
Szijjártó slams Pressman for ‘war propaganda’
Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Friday slammed David Pressman for “war propaganda”, saying that the US was trying to push Hungary into a war even though the country was part of a “global pro-peace majority”.
Szijjártó spoke at a press conference held jointly with Bangladeshi Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, responding to a question on Pressman’s statement on Thursday, which said: “While we should be focusing on the hot war on our doorstep, others are focused elsewhere on fake ‘wars,’ on culture ‘wars’.”
Szijjártó said Pressman “gets an A+ in war propaganda”. “I would like to make it clear: an ambassador is an ambassador, not a governor,” he said.
“Ambassador Pressman said we should be concerned with war … this is also clear from their posters and statements … But we want nothing to do with that, we want to concern ourselves with peace rather than war. We want peace rather than war,” he said.
Regarding Hungary’s contract on gas deliveries with Russia, Szijjártó noted that Hungary had weathered “even the hardest energy crises” without having to introduce restrictions. Energy supplies have been and will remain uninterrupted, he said.
Energy prices in Hungary are expected to fall in the coming months, he said. “Due to the pricing formula, movements on the international market usually appear in Hungarian prices with a two-month delay,” he said, lambasting the opposition for “being awash with experts on natural gas these days”.
On changes to the contract on the upgrade of the Paks nuclear plant, he said there were no structural changes in the pipeline which would impact the contractor or the project company. The current amendments are “technical changes accelerating the investment. We expect the European Union to allow the modifications to go through as they are fully compliant with EU regulations,” he said.
On the contrary, it is important to mention that the “pro-war” poster campaign highlights one thing and has but one message: it is clearly and deliberately sending “the Russians” home. Just like what Hungary tried to do in 1956. The thoughts that could consider this “pro-war” or something that wants to “drag Hungary into the war” are quite far-fetched, as they are quite literally stating the opposite.
The US was nowhere in 1956, so let’s end that conversation. Would not have been surprised is the US actually advised Russia in 56. Hungary managed to survive 56 without the US and will survive 2023. Why do we not hear the US putting the same amount of pressure on Austria or Switzerland, countries who wish to remain neutral. Pressman was sent to Hungary to create problems and he is doing his best. Is there something wrong with Pressman’s understanding, he cannot understand that Hungary is staying neutral. Pressman also fails to understand that Hungarian Government’s only duty is to serve Hungarians. If the US cared about Hungary, they would have sent a clear thinking, sane ambassador.
The current U.S. ambassador can’t stop meddling in Hungary’s internal affairs. EVERY political party should be calling him out and “slamming” him but, of course, the “opposition” is in cahoots with the globalist-socialist cabal Pressboy works for so…crickets.
Hearing another point of view from another person who is not related to FIDESZ about a topic or an event or disaster is rarely excepted by the government and then government answers, reactions, are blunt, crude and ambiguous and blame someone or something else for what happened and all these are the basic rules of the game oh and denial, and have close to 100% control of the press look at China and Russia. what a mess it all is.
How dare little Hungary pick on the most powerful goverment in the world. If you don’t obey they have ways to get rid of the 4 times elected leader. With help of Soros inc. the biggest money behind the Biden regime and is responsible for destroying justice system in many US states. They were also a major player in the ousting Ukraine government in 2013
Hungary is at this moment running speeches by Donald Trump at the CPAC conference in Budapest along with nutbar speakers like Kari Lake and this is not deemed political interference in Hungary or in the reverse an interference in US politics. The US ambassador at the same moment is being vilified as a propagandist. Are Hungarians that feeble minded that it is a risk to them to have the US ambassador provide an alternative point of view? The hypocrisy of Szijjarto and Orban is incredible. For the record Russia invaded Ukraine yet the Orban government spends all of its’ time supporting the Kremlin by attacking the US as “pro-war.” It’s a disgusting mockery of logic. Ukraine has the right to defend itself and other nations have the right to assist the defence of Ukraine against Russian aggression. No one including the US has forced or is trying to force Hungary to take part in any war. This is complete Szijjarto and Orban propaganda.
The US ambassador is a shill of the globalist cabal. The USA is imploding as we speak and will likely not exist as a single country in the next few years. Dont believe me? If all those diversity as a virtue people together in one place dont make money, then what is holding them together? Even big companies like burger king and costco are imploding, not to mention the banking sector.
What the US cabal needs is a world war to reset the system. Tick Tock
Dear Larry, yes Ukraine has the right to defend itself but without Hungarian supply of weapons. It is time Hungary stayed out of foreign wars.
It’s heartening to see that there are people out there who still have enough nous to tell the difference between fact and truth from fiction and blatant lies.
Unfortunately, there are people out there who are either blind or have a such an extremely distorted view~, one that never ceases to astonish me, and ask myself how on earth could anyone be so ignorant, some so much so, that they are practically shouting that the sky is falling and the end of the world is coming becaue of a so-called “cabal of globalists”. Do these people think that we Hungarians are so stupid?
Having asked that, I can see why some of them would think so, after all the majority of our voters took Fidesz’s campaign propaganda that was built on fear and blatant lies.
I’m genuinely sick and tired of reading/hearing about how VO and PSZ want peace. Who doesn’t?! If they genuinely want peace, then VO should head off to his pal VP and ask him to get the fruit out of a free and sovereign Ukraine, and then there WILL BE peace, immediate peace. Obviously, such a request won’t stop Vlad, but at least the PM will be seen to be trying something more that just spewing out tons of carbon dioxide.
