Fidesz politicians believe they were right about Germany’s migration policy

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has admitted that his country’s long-standing migration policy, “which initially only Hungary dared to oppose”, has caused “irreversible damage to their welfare state”, János Lázár, the minister of construction and transport, said on Wednesday.

“The German chancellor made a revealing admission over the weekend, but not everyone wants to take notice of it,” Lázár said in a post on Facebook. “But we have to take notice of it because next spring certain politicians will want to sell Hungary that same bill of goods in connection with which Friedrich Merz admitted at a CDU regional congress that they messed up.”

“In other words, the Germans caused irreversible damage to themselves and their famous welfare state with the migration policy which initially only Hungary dared to oppose, even at the cost of daily fine of 1 million euros,” the minister said.
