New commemorative coins featuring Sándor Petőfi and the National Song were issued today, on 11 April.
Today, the Hungarian National Bank (Magyar Nemzeti Bank, MNB) issued one of this year’s most eagerly awaited commemorative coins. They commemorate Sándor Petőfi, who was born 200 years ago, and the 1848-1849 Revolution and War of Independence, which broke out 175 years ago. The 11 April launch is no coincidence, Index writes, as it is the date of the Day of Hungarian Poetry.
