First a wolf, now a brown bear roams Hungary
Wildlife camera footage and footprints made by hunters show that there are brown bears in the Bükk in Hungary.
Index.hu reports that a bear has been found in Aggtelek National Park. The park’s management says they have not seen the animal and only know of it through a report. They added that no photos or recordings were taken. The management reckons that the authenticity of the sighting is questionable.
Most brown bears arrive in Hungary from Slovakia. This is where the animal seen in the Bükk must have come from. Tamás Cserkész, chairman of the Bükk Emlőstani Research Group Association, claimed they could prove that with a wildlife camera.
There is no bear population in the Bükk, so hikers shouldn’t fear an attack.
