First Hungarian to be elected to Interpol Executive Committee
Budapest (MTI) – Interpol elected Mátyás Hegyaljai, interior ministry deputy state secretary for EU and international affairs, to the executive committee of European members of the organisation on Thursday.
The ministry wrote in a statement that the election represented a great success for Hungarian law-enforcement diplomacy. It added that this is the first time a Hungarian professional has been elected to the 13-member body of the organisation comprising 190 member states.
Before his appointment, Hegyaljai served in leading positions in Interpol’s Hungarian office, the Hungarian Permanent Representation in Brussels and in the International Law Enforcement Cooperation Centre.
