The Szekszárd District Court on Thursday remanded an Israeli national in custody, suspecting him of transporting drugs to the Ozora Festival, the Tolna County Prosecutor’s Office told MTI. Furthermore, the Siófok District Court has sentenced a foreign national to a two-year suspended prison term and expelled him from Hungary for three years after he assaulted a police officer on 1 July.

The prosecution said the measure has been ordered for one month, on the grounds that there is an increased risk of flight and concealment in the case of a suspect accused of drug trafficking who has no ties to Hungary, and that he could jeopardise the taking of evidence if left at liberty, the Hungarian news agency wrote.
The prosecutor’s office added that police stopped the 27-year-old man in Tolna County on Sunday evening as he was travelling to the Ozora Festival in a hired car with German registration plates. The vehicle was searched, and officers found a significant quantity of drugs, mostly so-called party drugs, which the man allegedly intended to sell at the event, according to the statement.

The Siófok District Court has sentenced a foreign national to a two-year suspended prison term and expelled him from Hungary for three years after he assaulted a police officer on 1 July in Balatonőszöd, the Central Investigative Prosecutor’s Office said on Thursday.

Citing a final judgment delivered by the court on Monday, the prosecution said the man, in his twenties, had driven away from a petrol station in Siófok without paying, prompting police to try to stop him. Ignoring their repeated orders to pull over, he fled at speed, but in Balatonőszöd he reached an area from which he could go no further.
The prosecutor’s office said the police removed the man from the vehicle, but he resisted arrest and punched one of the officers in the face several times, causing bruising. Officers eventually used a stun gun against the man, it added.
The court found the driver guilty of violence against an official person.
