Hungarian sprinter Boglárka Takács delivered a sensational performance at the European Athletics Team Championships in Madrid, winning the women’s 100 metres with a new national record of 11.06 seconds. This not only secured her victory but also qualified her for the upcoming World Championships in Tokyo.

Stellar performance from Takács

Boglárka Takács, who has shown steadily improving form in recent weeks, faced a strong field including Italy’s Zaynab Dosso and Poland’s Ewa Swoboda. Despite a slightly slower start, she accelerated powerfully after the 20-metre mark and left her rivals behind, finishing with a wide margin.

With this run, Takács broke her own previous national record set at the Tokyo Olympics and also set a new championship record. “I trusted that I could break the national record and that it would be enough to win. I was a bit nervous, but I think I managed a confident race,” she said after her victory, 24.hu reports.
