German Harro Hofliger Hungary creates 100 new jobs in Debrecen

German-owned Harro Hofliger Hungary, which makes specialised machinery for the pharmaceutical and packaging industries, will build a HUF 6bn production hall in Debrecen (E Hungary), Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said on Friday.
The government is supporting the investment, which will create 100 jobs, with HUF 1.5bn, Szijjártó said. He added that Harro Hofliger had a close cooperation with the University of Debrecen and local vocational schools.
He noted that German companies accounted for one-fifth of inward FDI, while Germany accounted for one-fourth of Hungary’s trade. He added that the government had supported 318 big investments, with a combined value of HUF 3,800bn, by German companies over the past ten years.

Szijjártó said that agreements had been sealed last year on bringing investments with a value of more than EUR 10bn to Hungary. Those projects will create 18,500 jobs, he added.
