German govt spox confirms Merkel’s Budapest visit
Berlin, January 28 (MTI) – The German government spokesman officially announced on Wednesday that Chancellor Angela Merkel will pay an official visit to Budapest on February 2.

Steffen Seibert said in a statement issued in Berlin that Merkel and her host, Prime Minister Viktor Orban, will “discuss bilateral and EU political affairs, current developments in Hungary and the situation in Ukraine”.
He added that Merkel will also meet President Janos Ader.
The chancellor will also meet representatives of German businesses operating in Hungary.
Her schedule includes a visit to the German-language Andrassy University where she will receive an honorary degree conferred by the university of south Hungary’s Szeged.
As a guest of the Hungarian Jewish Federation Mazsihisz, Merkel visit the Dohany Street Great Synagogue, hold talks with leaders of Hungary’s Jewish communities and lay a wreath at the Emanuel Memorial Tree, the statement said.
