Gin Market Budapest embraces the trend of alcohol-Free Spirits

This year, one of Budapest’s most beloved gin festivals is embracing fresh trends: alongside its traditionally broad selection of gins, the event will also offer an impressive range of alcohol-free options. Gin Market, taking place June 13–14, will welcome guests at a new venue—Budapest Garden—with exciting musical, cultural, and gastronomic programs.

As one of Hungary’s largest gin festivals, Gin Market is adapting to emerging trends with an unprecedented range of alcohol-free offerings. According to the organizers, there is growing demand each year for non-alcoholic drinks and cocktails. Whether due to driving, a health-conscious lifestyle, or medical reasons, the festival ensures that guests can enjoy the event without compromise – tasting a variety of drinks with confidence.

“Fortunately, more and more international producers are recognizing the market potential of alcohol-free alternatives. In addition to designated drivers, athletes, and expectant mothers, many people are simply opting for a different lifestyle—and this trend is particularly strong among those in their twenties. Thanks to the expanding market, flavor development and experimentation are ongoing. This year’s festival will feature the debut of a locally crafted 0.0% gin, and in total, visitors curious about alcohol-free innovations will have the chance to taste more than a dozen different ‘gins.’ The wide selection also makes it possible to prepare most cocktails in a non-alcoholic version,” said Ágnes Viszkei, co-owner and main organizer of Gin Market.

Despite the focus on alcohol-free options, the festival stays true to its roots: fans of spirits can expect nearly 100 types of gin and countless cocktail variations. This year’s guest spirit is rum, which has grown steadily in popularity and now rivals gin as a crowd favorite. At the rum stands, enthusiasts of spicy, sweet, or aged profiles can sample 20 unique varieties.

As always, guests can look forward to a rich gastronomic offering – including gluten – and lactose-free options – and top musical performers. Live music begins right after the gates open on both days. On Friday, the headline act will be a live concert by Imre Rakonczai, while Saturday features Marga Sol, resident DJ of Café del Mar. The internationally renowned producer has performed at clubs and festivals from Ibiza to Dubai, captivating audiences around the world with her distinctive sound.

During the festival, a special sculpture exhibition will also take place at Budapest Garden. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the works of creative artist Liza Bódi, whose sculptures – crafted from iron, wood, and concrete – will be on display on June 13–14.
