Govt extends public works programme to health, mental patients
Budapest, July 5 (MTI) – The government has launched a pilot programme extending public works schemes to people with mental, social or health problems, daily Magyar Nemzet reported on Tuesday.
Quoting information from the interior ministry’s website, the paper said that the pilot is aimed at those people who have so far been prevented from finding employment because of their status.
The pilot employs 300 people in four counties in north-eastern and southwestern Hungary for five months, but is planned to be made a national programme from January next year.
Employees in the special programme work six hours a day and are paid between 42,000 and 53,000 forints (EUR 132-167) a month.
