House speaker attends commemoration of 1050th anniversary of Christianity in Poland
Poznan, Poland (MTI) – House Speaker László Kövér attended a joint session of the Sejm and the Senate of Poland to mark the 1050th anniversary of Poland’s converting to Christianity, in Poznan on Friday.
Addressing the event, Kövér called Poland’s approach to Christianity “exemplary” and said that for both the Poles and the Hungarians it was their Christian identity that helped them survive “for over a thousand years”. He warned that “it would be rush to swap that moral basis for all kinds of scrappy ideologies”.
Kövér said that Europe’s civilisation was based on “Greek wisdom, Roman law and Christianity” and said all three were needed to preserve that culture.
