Hungarian Catholic Church donates 500,000 dollars to rebuild homes in Iraq

Damaged homes will be rebuilt in Batnaya in northern Iraq with the help of 500,000 dollars in donations collected by the Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference, the organization said on Wednesday.

The Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference started collecting donations online in June 2017 to help Christians communities in the Middle East, the statement showed.

The main target of the scheme was to help persecuted Christians return to their homes, it added.

The Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference has transferred 500,000 dollars to those in need through the Apostolic Nunciature in Baghdad. Head of the Chaldean Catholic Church Louis Raphael I Sako said the revamp of damaged buildings had started in Batnaya.
