Hungarian distillery was the best in Europe
At the yearly competition, called the Destillata, the most famous distillate makers rival at this national event. According to hungliaonline.hu, Ttis year the award was given to a Hungarian distillery which is exceptional.
Palinkas, liqueurs, whiskeys and other spirit makers are compete with each other to compare their quality drinks: in Europe’s most prestigious competition. This was the 23rd time that the event was organized in an Austrian city as always. The Eisenstadt and the Esterhazy palace have given home for the event.
In 2015, 162 distilleries have arrived from 14 different countries. In the competition, Austrian, German, Hungarian, Russian, Swiss, Roman, Serbian, Dutch and Argentinian distillates are competing with each other. Hungary was represented by 25 distilleries.
In summary, Hungarians were really good and were in the third place in who won the most awards. Altogether, they have won 163 awards: 6 Distillate of the Year Awards , 7 gold, 62 silver and 88 bronze awards were gained. Austria has won the first place with 568 awards and Germany has become second with its 286 awards.
The competition’s most prestigious award was given to a Hungarian distillery; the Agardi Pálinkafőzde has become the Distillatory of the Year. The event founding member has gained the name of the Cooking Master of the Year: Véres Tibor
In every competition, they announce the Distillates of the Year which are given special awards. In this year, the Gyenesi Pálinkárium’s black elderberry palinka (2012), the Gyulai Pálinka black ribes palinka (2014) and the Agárdi beer (2014), its apple palinka and tokaji yellow muscart grape marc pálinka (2010) have won this award from the Hungarian competitors.
