Hungarian Innovation and Technology Min: A.I. offers deeper cooperation with Germany
Scientific cooperation between Hungary and Germany could be deepened also in the area of artificial intelligence through the Fraunhofer Society operating leading European institutes of applied research, the innovation and technology minister said in Berlin on Friday.
On the sidelines of a scientific symposium, László Palkovics told the Hungarian public media that Reimund Neugebauer, the head of the society, had had “very good ties with Hungary”.
The Fraunhofer Society already has a joint venture with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and the goal is to set up a joint institution to research AI, the minister said.

He added that AI had been selected as the next area because Hungarian industry had a lot of applications using AI, such as in robotisation or in the development of autonomous vehicles.

My second MS was in Computer Science with heavy emphasis on artificial intelligence. I realize that it was a long time ago and don’t remember much but it was really fun. I wanted to learn better computer programming for engineering PhD.
Still, everything pointed to the near impossibility to create artificial intelligence and most of our work was spent developing expert systems. People may think that it is sexy to talk about AI instead of mundane expert systems but
I doubt if AI is in the near future if ever.
