Hungarian László Tarnai wins the gold medal in the 2016 ATU Triathlon African Cup & Pan Arab Championships
The 2016 ATU Triathlon African Cup & Pan Arab Championships, organized by Alameda Triathlons and the Arab Triathlon Confederation, concluded its events in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh on 2 April.
A triathlon is a multiple-stage competition involving swimming, cycling and running. The sport is included as an Olympian sport.
Back to the tournament, although it was an Arab and African one, athletes from Europe and Asia were allowed to participate.
The most important division throughout the tournament was the Elite division, in which athletes collect points to qualify for the Olympics. This division includes two groups, males and females.
Hungarian László Tarnai won the males group’s gold medal. The silver and bronze medals went to Czech Tomas Svoboda and Turkish Aurelien Lescure, respectively.
As for the female’s group, Italians Elena Maria and Ilaria Fioravanti won the gold and silver medals respectively. The bronze medal went to South Africa’s Carlyn Fischer.
