25-year-old Dávid Nagy decided to do an amazing trip, walking all the way across the US from one coast to the other. At the moment he is in the middle of his journey, and he has been writing a travel blog about his adventures, posting videos on YouTube and his Facebook page, szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu reports.
He loves to travel, obviously. He has been to 25 countries already. When he was 18 years old, he moved to the Netherlands, then to Canada, where he fell in love with hiking. In 2016 he came home. We wrote about him in May, just days before he started on his journey and now we are following up, seeing where he is now.
In his blog, he writes about how he got the idea to walk across the US. He says he read about how some people did this walk and raised money with it. At the time there were only 39 people who completed the walk and Dávid thought that this was not a very high number. How many started the trip and then not finish it? It looks like there are hundreds of people every year who jump into this and the number of completed trips is climbing. There will be one more to add to that list because Dávid is not stopping. He will be the first Hungarian to walk across the United States.
ButtonMany before him have raised money with the walk across the US. Dávid is doing the same, raising money for the Heim Pál Children’s Hospital.
He has walked about 2500 km, he is at the middle of his trip, halfway between New York and Los Angeles.
Everyone who takes this walk has their own route planned; there are no two walks the same. Some people want to take back roads and hiking trails; others have some towns and cities they definitely want to visit (or maybe avoid at all cost). Some travel with a tent, sleep at campgrounds or in cheap hotels. Every one of these trips is unique. Dávid walks about 25-40 km a day, going through 11 states. He started from New York and has been planning to finish his trip in Santa Monica.
