Hungarian orgs join People’s Climate March ahead of UN summit
(MTI) – Hungarian civil organisations joined the People’s Climate March initiative and organised a demonstration to stop climate change in Budapest on Sunday.
The demonstration is linked to the United Nation’s climate summit to be held next week, organisers said.
The gathering was addressed by writer and Green activist Andras Lanyi and researcher of climate change Tibor Farago, who was Hungary’s climate negotiator earlier.
The demonstrators marched from parliament square to the junction Oktogon in central Budapest, holding up banners and chanting environmental slogans in Hungarian and English. They urged immediate action to stop climate change and protect the Earth, noting the importance of renewable energy sources.
