Hungarian president congratulates new Austrian counterpart
Budapest, May 24 (MTI) – President János Áder congratulated his new Austrian counterpart Alexander Van der Bellen in a message sent during his UK visit on Tuesday.
Áder said Hungary considers Austria one of its most important neighbours and a significant European partner, according to the document forwarded by the President’s Office.
The president said he hoped that comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, based on common history and cultural foundations, would continue to strengthen.
He welcomed the new Austrian president’s dedication to environmental protection and sustainability. This approach may now be represented jointly and with greater success within the European Union, he added.
Áder said he trusted there would soon be an opportunity to meet personally.
