Hungarian Rhapsody festival opens in Beijing
Beijing (MTI) – A month-long Hungarian cultural festival opened in Beijing on Friday, with a spectacle of hussars and folk dancers, and offering Hungarian food and wine.
The festival, dubbed Hungarian Rhapsody, was organised by the Hungarian embassy and Hungary’s cultural institute to promote the country’s cuisine and wine culture, but the programme will also include roundtables and symposia to provide an overview of Hungary’s economy, science, tourism and education, Szilvia Szojka, the embassy’s charge d’affaires, said in her opening address.
The programme will be complete with exhibitions and lectures on topics including Hungarian history and education, partly to promote Hungary’s universities among Chinese students. The lectures will also include one on the Hungarian government’s settlement bond programme.
The festival’s venue is central Beijing’s Hotel Minzu.
