Budapest, May 22 (MTI) – Hungarian swimming federation chief Tamas Gyarfas has defended swimming star Katinka Hosszu against allegations of doping by Swimming World Magazine.
Earlier this week, Swimming World Magazine published an article questioning Hosszu’s outstanding performances and implying that she was taking performance-enhancing drugs.
Gyarfas on Friday issued a statement condemning the article, saying that the swimming federation “read with the utmost dismay the outrageous commentary […] defaming Katinka Hosszu”.
Gyarfas noted that Hosszu has taken part in numerous doping tests and passed all of them. He said the Hungarian federation would never question any achievement by any great swimmer.
