Hungarians travelling to Turkey warned to take caution

Budapest, June 29 (MTI) – Hungary’s Foreign Ministry has asked Hungarians to exercise caution if travelling to Turkey after the bombing in Istanbul which claimed 36 lives and injured nearly 150 on Tuesday.

The consular services of the ministry issued a notice on Wednesday in which it suggests that tourists check their travel arrangements as many flights are cancelled. They have also been warned against going to crowded places or attending mass events while in Istanbul. Hungarians travelling to Turkey can register with the consular services on their website.

Turkish Airlines has cancelled its afternoon flights between Budapest and Istanbul but other flights will be operational, a spokesman for Budapest Airport told MTI on Wedneday. Passengers should check notice boards online for more information, László Kurucz said. Delays of up to 3 hours have been reported on morning flights in both directions. Wizz Air also operates a flight to Istanbul, which is currently not expecting any delays.
