Hungary eyes expanding intl military grave maintenance cooperation, says defence minister
Hungary is looking to expand its international military grave maintenance cooperation with further countries, Defence Minister István Simicskó told public news channel M1 on Wednesday.
Hungary currently has agreements on mutual military grave maintenance with nine countries, but there are Hungarian soldiers buried in 54 countries altogether, the minister said.
Hungary and Russia have had a military grave maintenance agreement in place since 1995, the minister said, calling the two countries’ cooperation in this area “exemplary”.
There are some 20,000 Hungarian soldiers buried in the military cemetery of Rudkino, he said, noting that the names of two soldiers buried there were recently added by the defence ministry at the request of their families.
