Budapest, April 27 (MTI) – Hungary will send its ambassador to Russia to attend Victory Day celebrations in Moscow on May 9, the President’s Office told MTI on Monday.
The parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union in the Second World War will be boycotted by several heads of state and government due to Russia’s role in the conflict in Ukraine.
US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have indicated they would stay away from the celebrations.
Czech President Milos Zeman, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, and Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiadis have said they would attend.
