Hungary-South Korea ties ‘excellent’, says official
Budapest, March 31 (MTI) – Political and cultural ties between Hungary and South Korea are “excellent”, state secretary László L Simon, who also heads the Hungarian-Korean Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group, said at a conference on Hungary-South Korea relations on Thursday.
L Simon urged launching direct flights between the two countries, arguing that it would further strengthen bilateral trade as well as cultural and tourism relations.
Regarding cultural relations, he noted that the Korean Cultural Centre opened in Budapest in 2012. He said the introduction of Korean television dramas to Hungary was another important step in boosting cultural ties, adding that the two countries are working on bringing even more Korean dramas to Hungarian television in the future.
L Simon said more than 100,000 South Korean tourists visited Hungary last year.
He noted that the two countries will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties in 2019.
