Budapest, June 8 (MTI) – Hungary’s trade surplus came to 959 million euros in April, a first reading of data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Wednesday shows.
The surplus expanded by 527 million euros from the same period a year earlier.
Exports grew by an annual 5.1 percent to 8.013 billion euros in April. Imports were down 1.9 percent at 7.054 billion.
Fully 80 percent of exports went to other European Union member states while 79 percent of imports came from the EU.
In the first four months of the year, the trade surplus reached 3.418 billion euros, up 406 million from the same period a year earlier. Exports rose by 2.5 percent to 30.638 billion euros and imports increased by 1.2 percent to 27.219 billion.
