Hungary, Turkey Agree To Boost Cultural Cooperation
Budapest, June 30 (MTI) – Hungarian and Turkish officials held talks on ways to boost cultural cooperation between the two countries last weekend.
State Secretary of Culture Peter Hoppal and Turkish UNESCO Committee chief Oguz Ocan raised the idea of “studying common roots in folk music, material folk art and embroidery as well as Turkish impacts on Hungarian cuisine.”
Ocan appreciated Hungary’s efforts to preserve Turkish cultural heritage and find the tomb of Sultan Suleyman, the Magnificent, who died during the siege of Szigetvar, now in south Hungary, in 1564, the State Secretariat of Culture told MTI late on Sunday.
