Hungary’s construction industry still struggling: latest Figures

Data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Monday show that Hungary’s construction sector’s output fell 4.5pc year-on-year in February.

The output of the building segment dropped by 11.0 pc, but civil engineering output rose by 15.3 pc. In February, the construction sector’s output reached HUF 460.7bn, with the buildings segment accounting for 71 percent of the total.

In a month-on-month comparison, construction sector output edged down 1.3pc, adjusted for seasonal and workday effects. In January-February, the output of the construction sector fell by 7.0pc year-on-year.

Order stock was up 1.8pc at the end of February compared to twelve months earlier. Buildings segment orders fell 6.9pc but civil engineering orders rose 8.9pc. New order volume dropped 15.5pc during the period. New orders in the buildings segment climbed 12.0pc but new civil engineering orders slumped 32.9pc, KSH says.
