Hungary’s guest nights climb 1.5 pc in June

Budapest, August 11 (MTI) – The number of guest nights at hotels and other commercial accommodations in Hungary rose by an annual 1.5 percent to 2,567,000 in June, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Thursday show.

Guest nights spent by Hungarians rose by 4.3 percent to 1,342,000. Guest nights spent by foreign visitors edged down 1.4 percent to 1,225,000.

Germans spent 195,700 guest nights in Hungary during the period, visitors from the UK spent 87,300, Czechs spent 81,900 and visitors from the United States spent 78,600.

Revenue of commercial accommodations increased by 2.9 percent to 35.9 billion forints (EUR 115.66m).

At hotels, revenue per available room climbed by 4.7 percent to 10,728 forints. The average room price was up by 3.0 percent at 18,353 forints.

The occupancy rate at hotels rose by 1 percentage point to 58.5 percent.

In the first half, guest nights were up by 4.5 percent year-on-year at 10,979,000. Guest nights spent by foreigners climbed by 3.4 percent and guest nights spent by Hungarians were up by 5.6 percent.
