Immigration office expands staff, two new reception centre
Budapest, August 24 (MTI) – Hungary’s immigration office (BAH) has started boosting the number of staff who process asylum applications, the daily Magyar Hirlap said on Monday.
BAH told the paper that it is in the process of hiring 485 new employees, most of whom will be on fixed-term contracts until next August.
New officials will be tasked with managerial duties while public workers will be posted in reception centres, the paper said. The immigration office is also looking to hire administrators tasked with handling asylum requests, accountants, engineers and economists. BAH intends to place public health physicians and inspectors at its offices in Bicske and Bekescsaba (both in southern Hungary).
The government is planning to open two new reception centres each housing 1,000 migrants, the paper said.
