Gedeon Richter and Foxconn among key industrial visits
One of the significant stops on the minister’s itinerary was Gedeon Richter Plc., one of Hungary’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturers.
The company already has an industrial presence in India through Richter Themis Medicare (India) Pvt. Ltd. According to the Indian government, the visit highlighted opportunities for further cooperation in pharmaceutical manufacturing, research and development, and healthcare technologies.
Prasada also visited Foxconn’s manufacturing operations in Hungary, which are involved in producing advanced data centre infrastructure, network communication equipment and artificial intelligence server technologies.
The discussions highlighted opportunities to strengthen cooperation in electronics manufacturing, digital infrastructure and emerging technologies, particularly in developing more resilient industrial supply chains.
These sectors are increasingly relevant to Hungary’s industrial economy, where electronics manufacturing, automotive production and pharmaceutical development play important roles.
More than 100 business representatives attend Budapest seminar
On 5 November, Minister Jitin Prasada addressed an India–Hungary Business Seminar in Budapest, attended by more than 100 business representatives.
The event, organised by the Embassy of India, focused on expanding commercial partnerships between Hungarian and Indian companies.
The seminar, entitled Deepening India-Hungary Commercial Relations: A Look Ahead, took place at the InterContinental Budapest hotel. Its principal focus areas included the automotive, pharmaceutical, chemical, information technology and artificial intelligence sectors.
Prasada encouraged businesses from both countries to explore investment opportunities, establish new partnerships and strengthen industrial cooperation.
The accompanying Indian business delegation also engaged with representatives of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI), the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency (HEPA) and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA).
Business-to-business meetings provided opportunities for Indian and Hungarian companies to establish direct commercial contacts and discuss potential projects.
What the visit means for India–Hungary relations
For Hungary, closer economic relations with India could offer additional opportunities for its export-oriented industries, particularly in pharmaceuticals, electronics, agricultural technology and research.
India, meanwhile, represents a major potential market for Hungarian businesses seeking to diversify their international partnerships beyond Europe.
The visit also reflected the importance of Hungary’s position within the European Union, which provides a broader framework for economic cooperation with India.
During his stay in Budapest, Prasada also met members of the Indian community at the Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre, acknowledging their role in strengthening cultural and personal ties between the two countries.
Although the official statement did not announce specific new investment commitments or signed agreements, the discussions identified several areas for potential future cooperation.
The minister’s visit therefore marked another step in developing India–Hungary economic relations, with the practical results depending on subsequent business partnerships, research projects and investment decisions.
Indian community and Hungarian friends celebrate ties in Budapest
During his visit, Minister Jitin Prasada also attended a special gathering hosted by the Embassy of India in Budapest, bringing together members of the Indian community living in Hungary and Hungarian friends of India. Daily News Hungary was also represented at the event, where its representative had the opportunity to meet India’s Ambassador to Hungary, Anshuman Gaur. The gathering took place in the festive atmosphere of Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, providing an opportunity for cultural exchange, informal conversations and the strengthening of personal connections between the two countries. The warm reception reflected the important role of people-to-people relations alongside the growing diplomatic and economic cooperation between India and Hungary.
