Israeli man stabs another Israeli at Hungarian festival

A life-threatening stabbing occurred Saturday at the Ozora Festival when a 28-year-old Israeli man stabbed a 26-year-old fellow Israeli multiple times following a verbal altercation. The attack took place on the grounds of the event held in Igar-Vámszőlőhegy, the Fejér County Police Department confirmed.
Victim airlifted to hospital
The police received the report of the stabbing on the afternoon of 2 August. The victim was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition by the National Ambulance Service. According to the festival’s main organiser, Árpád Zimányi, the man’s condition has since stabilised, though the motive for the attack remains unclear.
Initial reports state that a verbal dispute broke out between the two Israeli citizens prior to the attack. The suspected assailant, who was also injured, was detained by festival security until police arrived. Officers arrested him at the scene and took him to the hospital, where he was placed in custody.
Investigation underway, arrest requested
The Fejér County Police Department has launched an investigation into felony assault causing life-threatening injuries. The suspect is currently being interrogated, and investigators have requested his pre-trial detention, according to Telex.
Not the only incident at this year’s Ozora Festival
Earlier, on 25 July, a fire broke out at the festival when several gas canisters exploded. Witnesses reported the blaze started at a food kiosk selling Asian cuisine near the main stage. Visitors believe the fire ignited after a gas canister overheated, catching nearby cooking oil on fire.
Attempts to contain the flames using fire extinguishers worsened the situation, leading to rapid fire spread and a series of loud explosions as propane-butane cylinders blew up in succession. The inferno fully engulfed the kiosk and spread to three vehicles, two trailers, and several tents. Some witnesses claimed a gas pipe may have cracked during the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The Ozora Festival is one of the world’s most renowned psychedelic music and spiritual gatherings, attracting tens of thousands of attendees to Hungary each year.
