Kolega problem: a totally drunk lorry driver crashed a motorway service area in Hungary – photos

The slang term Kolega problem is also present in Hungary, where a drunk driver completely rearranged a motorway service area with his lorry.
According to police.hu, at 5 PM on 9 March, a driver was driving on the M7 motorway towards Budapest when he knocked down three traffic signs and crashed into a candelabra as he drove into the Szegerdő rest area. The highway patrol officers took the visibly intoxicated man to the police station for sampling and his driving licence was immediately revoked. The Marcali Police Department initiated proceedings against the 52-year-old Croatian citizen on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

In trucking slang, kolega problem is a derogatory term for when Eastern European truckers who don’t speak foreign languages well get into a difficult situation or ask each other for help. This is sometimes necessary when they cause trouble like the one above. A Facebook group called Kolega problem, which has almost 900,000 members, is used to illustrate such cases.
