Péter Magyar: Druzhba oil pipeline could resume operations next week

Change language:

The Druzhba oil pipeline could resume operations as early as next week, according to expectations, Péter Magyar, leader of the election-winning Tisza Party and prime minister-designate, said in Budapest on Friday. He spoke after representatives of parties entering parliament held talks on preparations for the inaugural session of the National Assembly.

Magyar: Druzhba could resume operations in days

Speaking at a press conference following the meeting, Magyar said in response to a question that he had been informed about the possible restart of the pipeline during talks on Thursday with Zsolt Hernádi, Chairman and CEO of MOL.

He added that Hernádi “will be travelling” to Russia, where he is expected to hold discussions on several issues, including the pipeline. However, Magyar noted that restarting the infrastructure alone would not be sufficient, as “oil must also be available” for transport.

At the same time, oil continues to arrive via the Adriatic pipeline, and MOL does not expect any supply disruptions either in the near or medium term, he emphasised.

The new PM also said he had informed the CEO that a future Tisza-led government would maintain the protected price cap on fuels in the coming months.

Gergely Gulyás: Government decides to maintain fuel price cap

The government has decided to maintain the protected fuel price cap at its Wednesday meeting (as asked by incoming PM Magyar), and the relevant decree has already been signed by the prime minister, Gergely Gulyás, Head of the Prime Minister’s Office, announced in a Facebook post on Friday.

He noted that in order for the measure to remain in place after a change of government, the new National Assembly must also approve it. The necessary legislation will therefore be submitted to parliament, allowing the new legislature to decide on it without delay.

Gulyás added that the government will ensure the conditions for an orderly and swift transition of power.

  3. Following the developments of international energy infrastructure like the Druzhba pipeline is vital for understanding global market shifts, especially when you are trying to cross-reference data from USA financial reports and specialized energy news portals that often have strict regional access layers; I have found that using a UDP proxy is a very effective way to maintain a stable and fast connection when accessing these global databases, as it helps prevent the common loading errors and security flags that occur when browsing international industrial news from different regions; it is a practical solution for anyone who needs a reliable and transparent connection to stay updated on critical infrastructure updates without experiencing technical lag or unexpected session timeouts.
